| Für eine Hepatitis C Risikoexposition steht derzeit weder eine medikamentöse Postexpositionsprophylaxe (PEP) noch eine aktive oder passive Immunisierung (wie bei der Hepatitis B) zur Verfügung. Ob die direkt antiviralen Wirkstoffe (DAA) - zugelassen für die Behandlung der Hepatitis C Infektion - für eine HCV-PEP eingesetzt werden können, ist zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt unklar und ihr Einsatz wird daher nicht empfohlen. Für eine Hepatitis B PEP ist der HBs-Ag Status der Indexperson entscheidend:

| * Bei einem negativen HBs-Ag-Status sind keine weiteren Maßnahmen hinsichtlich der Exposition erforderlich.

| * Bei einem positiven HBs-Ag oder einem unbekannten Status, der innerhalb von 48 Stunden nicht zu ermitteln ist, kann eine passive oder aktive Impfung erforderlich werden:

| Keine Maßnahmen sind erforderlich, wenn der/die Exponierte vollständig geimpft wurde und der Anti-HBs Titer in den letzten 10 Jahren gemessen und ≥ 100 IE/l war oder bei der Anti-HBs-Bestimmung innerhalb von 48 h ≥ 100 IE/l war.
